I'm not trying to say Ed has done a terrible job but IF everybody had been doing a good job we wouldn't be in this mess. It's time for a fresh start with a fresh mind that hasn't been polluted with RIchmond/Washington games. This is our today and this is our future. Win this Matt for all of the hard working 30th District citizens.

Return our federal government to Constitutional government. I appreciate someone with the courage to run as an independent, rejecting the phony right-left paradigm that often obscures very important issues. This is the number one reason the USA is bankrupt and Americans are loosing many of their liberties.

I agree with you on many of the issues. One issue you have not talked about. Where do you stand on abortion and what actions will you take on this issue when in office?

Matt Carson's Response:
Roland,
I am pro-choice. I want to bring my focus to the children in our state who are often ignored whenever the abortion debate comes up, those who are abused, hungry, malnourished, homeless, and at-risk. According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation, there are currently over 18,000 homeless children in Virginia and over 9,000 in foster care. I want to not only bring awareness to this, but find effective ways that we can work with community organizations and state-wide programs such as the CACVA (Children's Advocacy Centers of Virginia), Voices for Virginia's Children, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, churches, and others to bring immediate and lasting assistance.

The issue to me isn't whether or not we force a woman to have a baby, but how we protect and care for life as communities and as a state.

Thank you for your question - if you have any others please let me know.

Where do you stand on tax credits for home schoolers?

Matt Carson's Response:
First, I applaud and encourage a parent's right to attain the best possible education for their children. We must all make the decision that is best for our children based on the goals we have set as families. While working to continually strengthen the public school system, I want to learn more about the needs of homeschoolers - and welcome your comments, instruction, and feedback. Having said that, my response to your direct question is that I support a modest homeschool tax credit but we have to be careful that it doesn’t broaden the constraints the government wants to place on the work you desire to do through home instruction. My goal is to lower taxes and increase personal freedom for all people --- which means limiting the influence of the government, both federal and state.

I would like to discuss this issue in more detail, I want to fully understand the parent's concerns and exactly what the state can do to help more without hindering a parent's choices and ability to teach in their manner.
